Bye Bye Vegas…..

Until next time.

Have had an absolute blast here in Vegas, toured the Allegiant Stadium which is an amazing venue which we were lucky enough to go behind the scenes of. Next time hopefully there is a game on.

Great to see some of the amazing owners artwork on display, this one was my particular favourite. I think I may now be part of the Raider Nation !

The Golden Knights know how to turn it on to !

Anyway, it wasn’t all pleasure some work did take place. I cant be the only one that finds it easier to work in airports / hotels basically anywhere except the office !

But here I am, for the fourth day in a row tucked up in a corner in one of the many bars at Treasure Island diligently working away ignoring all the flashing lights from just across the corridor. The list is getting smaller and the inspiration is flowing, only two more days before heading home refreshed and ready to get into some physical works back in NZ.

Part of the reason I have been in Vegas this week was for the 3rd Duck Duck Shed Architectural festival which sadly didn’t happen this year. Its run by the folks at The Neon Museum – We Are The Story of Las Vegas who are doing everything they can to promote and preserve the past of Las Vegas.

I would highly recommended visiting them at the Neon Boneyard and taking in some of their educational programs. I would very excitedly recommend that you add the Brilliant ! experience to your visit.

But what I have done instead is reach out to a business coach for a bit of personal development and inside information on the business of America as this is going to be one on the growth markets for our company.

Wendy Preyssler from Home – Coaching By Wendy was very accommodating and adjusted her schedule to do the Leadership Circle Debrief. This was an assessment of me, by me, and also a peer group who were broken down into groups to split out responses.

It showed that over the last ten years that whilst my opinion of myself hasn’t really changed, I’m still as hard on myself as always and probably don’t share as much with direct reports as I should do. But what I do focus on, and all people who responded confirmed is my clients.

Which I don’t believe is a bad thing.

Wendy was also kind enough to put me in contact with Rick Van Diepen Managing Principal of Home • GRN Vision and Principal Architect of RPM Team – Navigate a better future (rpm-team.com). We had a great conversation around volumetric modular housing and its application in helping to reduce homelessness, there is definitely a market to be served by a standardised system that can be easily permitted and delivered throughout the country.

More to come there.
